Sailing is for everyone, but it is important to know that it requires moderate physical activity. For the safety of yourself and others, please let your Captain know of any relevant medical history that may affect your ability to safely engage in sailing activities. It is your responsibility to monitor your physical well-being during sailing activities. Stay hydrated, protect yourself from the sun, and cease participation if you experience any discomfort, pain, or other adverse health conditions.
We take safety seriously. Familiarize yourself with the layout and components of the boat. Your instructor will provide guidance on essential features, including life jacket locations, emergency equipment, hatches, and exits. Follow the guidance of your Captain regarding appropriate actions in varying weather situations.
Sail Moondrift captains make weather calls. We use a variety of apps that track weather and wind to help make hour to hour decisions on the day of your sail. Should serious weather cause the interruption or cancellation of your class, we will gladly reschedule for no additional cost.
You will be notified within 2-hours of the start time of your sail if we need to cancel or postpone your sail due to weather.
Yes! We encourage you to bring any snacks and drinks that would make your sail enjoyable! Responsible alcohol consumption may be permitted at the Captain’s discretion. No illegal substances are allowed onboard.
All sails start from the Friendship Town Dock in Friendship, Maine. Please follow our specific parking and walking directions. Park at the lot near the local cemetery off Harbor Rd and walk 0.3 miles to the town landing (dock). The address for the cemetery parking is: 36 S Harbor Cemetery Rd, Friendship, ME 04547. Follow directions to this lot, park, and then it's a short 0.3 mile walk to the end of Townlanding Rd to the town dock where Captain Jeremy will be waiting to take you to our sailboat via our wooden launchboat, the "Red" skiff. The local fisherman are quite particular about where everyone parks. Contact us if you have any questions about parking or where to meet us. View this map for parking and walking instructions.
This information will be sent to you in your confirmation email and again in your reminder email 24-hours before your sail.
We answered this in the question above, but it's worth restating! Park at the lot near the local cemetery off Harbor Rd and walk 0.3 miles to the town landing (dock). Yes, but. There is a small head (bathroom) onboard which guests are welcome to use in an emergency. Please note, this head is very small and with low ceilings. You will need to be able to duck to enter into narrow doors. It's highly recommended you use the restroom before boarding. The town of Friendship is a working waterfront town and access to facilities can be challenging to find. We recommend you take this in to account when departing for your sail. There are some nearby places with a porta-potty if needed.
All sails can accommodate up to 6 guests. When booking, you are booking the entire boat - regardless of your groups size. We ask you specify in the booking form how many will be in your group.
S/V Moondrift has wide decking and a spacious topdeck great for lounging and enjoying the views. Six fits very comfortably aboard.

We love dogs! Well-trained dogs are allowed at the Captains discretion. Please inquire first before bringing your dog onboard. Please note, all dogs should have the ability to maneuver on a moving vessel and be able to deal with unexpected noises and sights (such as sails luffing). We also highly recommend dogs wear lifejackets for their own and others safety.
